2016 Miniature Horse WORLD Issues April/May 2016 - Volume 32, Number 2 | Page 30

Perhaps the highlight for many amateurs or new mini owners was the seminar given by Brooke the Clipper Girl. Chairs packed the room as Brooke gave her candid opinions on clipper choice, techniques for a great body clip and even some of her trade secrets! Her vast knowledge of this subject was evident even before she revealed her incredible 16-year history of clipping horses. Expect to see at least one great article in MHW prompted by Brooke’s informative dialogue and face clipping pictorial! Featured on Saturday was the informative visual slideshow depicting the multitude of colors of horses, created and narrated by Dan Simmons- a Morgan horse breeder and active genetic horse color educator. His informative power point explained what color breeding matches can produce and gave visual examples of the rainbow of color examples horses can portray. Overall the feeling of the 2016 Annual Meeting was that of camaraderie. Attendees enjoyed spending time together without the usual hubbub and rush of getting ready for their next class- as is normal at a horse show. AMHA is privy to broad and diversely talented group of people. Its members have one thing that binds them together, the love of the Miniature horse. This passion drives their lives and assures the Miniature breed will continue to flourish for many more years to come. Friends for over 30 years, Toni Reece (Reece Family Miniatures and Wade Burns (Lucky Four Farms), welcomed the opportunity to visit between meetings. Breaks between meetings were sponsored this year by the AMHA Club, Orange Blossom Miniature Horse Club. A big “thank you” goes out to this club for their generosity and efforts. The repast of cookies, fruit, and drinks kept meeting attendees focused and attentive Gen_Ozrk_Triumph#2:Layout 1 9/2/14 12:35 sessions.
