ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION

Susan Scherreik, Seton Hall University

Scherreik sees her mission as educating emerging entrepreneurs. Not only at Seton Hall University, where she founded the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, but throughout the state. The University’ s Pirates Pitch business competition has been so successful that Inc. magazine named a winning student’ s venture one of the nation’ s“ Coolest College Startups.” Seton Hall student teams have also won state, regional and national startup competitions. To prepare students to launch ventures, Scherreik has been instrumental in the creation of 18 entrepreneurship courses at the Stillman School of Business, which offers Entrepreneurship Certificate programs for undergraduate and MBA students. Scherreik believes in the power of role models – so Seton Hall honors alumni entrepreneurs at its annual Entrepreneur Hall of Fame Induction Dinner, and has used funds raised to award over $ 200,000 in scholarships. Scherreik was a driving force behind the creation of UPitchNJ, a business idea competition that involved 11 New Jersey universities. Scherreik was a judge in the 2016 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year / NJ competition. Her passion is mentoring young women entrepreneurs.
