MARCOS MORAU
Choreographer
Marcos was born in Valencia, Spain. He studied
choreography at the Institut del Teatre de
Barcelona, the Conservatorio Superior de Danza
de Valencia, the Choreographic Centre of Teatres
de la Generalitat Valenciana, and Movement
Research in New York, where his final project
obtained the school’s highest scores. In recent
years he worked as a choreographic assistant
with the Nederlands Dans Theater II and the
company IT Dansa.
His artistic skills are not limited to dance and
extend into disciplines such as photography
and drama, having earned a Master’s Degree in
Drama Theory while assisting choreographer
Cesc Gelabert.
In 2005 he created La Veronal, a company of
artists working in dance, film, and theatre. The
artistic team’s purpose lies in a constant search
for new expressive media. Taking from varied
cultural reference—cinema, literature, music,
and photography—La Veronal seeks to build a
strong narrative language with the intention of
forming global art spaces that shape the inner
world of their pieces.
Marco’s many awards include First Prize at the
choreographic contest of Madrid, the Fira de
Tàrrega prize, a special award from MasDanza
Maspalomas International Choreographic
contest, a prize at the International
Choreographic Contest of Copenhagen, a special
mention in Huesca’s International Dance Fair,
and a special appearance at the International
Biennial of Young Artists from Europe.
