Pastor Casio Carrasco
2016 has been a productive year for Pastor Casio Carrasco, although he is the leader of the small“ Life and Liberty” church. Just as Jesus set out with 12 disciples, Pastor Casio set out with a team of 8 and touched the lives of many children all across Peru.
Pastor Casio Carrasco felt the calling to go above and beyond the walls of his“ Life and Liberty [ Vida y Libertad ]” church located in Lima, Peru.
He had a grand vision and calling to expand God’ s Kingdom all across Peru. After the 2015 Short Term Mission Team visited his church, he started to fervently pray for the mission that God had placed in his heart.
However, he was limited in his abilities and resources. Even the church building that Pastor Casio uses is not their own but belongs to the city. But by the grace of God, Pastor Casio started to move in faith.
He believed that money is not the source of the calling but God Himself. Thus, he gathered a few youth leaders of the church and started to plan a trip that would help the less fortunate churches in Peru.
In January, they went to a small church in Pariacolka consisting of only 11 adults and several children. Pastor Casio and the mission team gave a special presentation for the church. Everyone who attended were so touched and decided to commit their lives to the Lord Jesus. A few days later, Pastor Casio and his team went to Las Palmas( a church fawaway) where they helped to do a vacation bible school for the children of the Light of Hope church.
The journey was long and tiring but Pastor Casio was not done yet. They left Las Palmas in the afternoon and went to Rumichaka where the church was planning a great feast to celebrate the baptism of 6 people. Though the trip was exhausting both physically
and spiritually, everyone felt the Holy Spirit working in them. Now, Pastor Casio and the church are collecting toys, clothes and school supplies to send to the needy children in the province of Pariscolca. The Life and Liberty church that was the receiver of help from HHK WMC became the giver. Hallelujah!
Anyone can help others when it is plentiful. However, true Christians are the ones that will stretch out their helping hands to the needy people even though they don’ t have much and are in need of help from others.
Pastor Casio and his church were enclosed in a cocoon of poverty and limitations. But from this they have emerged as beautiful butterflies that bring joy and hope, flying in the wind of the Holy Spirit.
