The City of Calabasas does not require a business license or fee for doing business within its borders, however, a federal tax ID number, state license, or DBA may be required by Los Angeles County. Demographics and Geography
Calabasas is located in northwest Los Angeles County, in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, and adjacent to the San Fernando Valley. The City is made up of 55 pocket communities that range from apartment complexes and townhomes to multi-million dollar estates.
While known for its gated communities, Calabasas also has several traditional neighborhoods, and tucked away throughout Mulholland Highway’ s scenic corridor are custom homes, a beautiful mobile home park, and many rural communities.

The City of Calabasas has a General Plan( an allocating specific land-use policy) for stable growth through public approved developments that provide for employment and retail opportunity within the community. The General Plan includes an anticipated 3.7 million square-foot commercial / industrial development throughout the next 20 years.
Topography As a“ Tree City U. S. A.,” Calabasas contains some of the most scenic and protected topography in Southern California. Heritage Oak trees, Santa Monica peaks, ridgelines, canyons, creeks, and woodlands create a feeling of openness, while giving Calabasas its rural character. Oak trees are a protected species within Calabasas.
