earthly mysticism in miniature, a professing
of natural secrets hidden in plain sight.

Other Half Dating Service
Alex Ateah, MB, 12m, com

In Other Half Dating Service, the artist
references dating videos from the 1980’s
where individuals would discuss the type
of partner that they were looking for. Alex
plays four characters which are each based
on a facet of the her personality however,
greatly exaggerated. The artist is interested
in exploring her desire to find her “other
half” while juggling the complex layers
of her personality and what she is truly
looking for.

Holland, Manitoba
Aaron Zeghers, MB, 20m, exp

As two growing years pass, Don Zeghers
– farmer from Holland, Manitoba – phases
out his multi-generational family farm.
With experimental photography on Super
8, 16mm and digital mediums, his son
Aaron Zeghers follows this life change and
the dissolution of the family farm – perhaps
a microcosm of the modern industrialized
world. Nature is contrasted with industrial
might in this sentimental and existential
portrait of one’s own family.

building and it’s occupants. It is a
voyeuristic peak at life behind drawn
blinds.
