My morning walk to work from the medical campus used to always go the same way. I would quietly make my
way down Jefferson Street, diffidently passing the lines of colorful row houses and bustling corner stores that
adorn the neighborhood until I reached the small brick building that housed Charm City Clinic. I was an outsider,
unable to offer anything more than a simple “hello,” or “how are you,” to the many community members that I
