Systems of Care
The ability to see a mental health care provider, collaborate with educators, or connect with family support organizations can make a tremendous difference for youth who experience mental or substance use disorders and their caregivers.
The Awareness Day 2016 national event highlighted the importance of increasing access to community-based children’ s behavioral health services and supports. The observance explored strategies for overcoming barriers to behavioral health care access, including the many systems of care that are addressing the needs of children, youth, and young adults in communities, states, tribes, and territories.
Systems of care represent an effective and cost-efficient strategy for transforming children’ s mental health care by bringing together all the people involved in a child’ s life to help provide the best possible care and best outcomes.
“ We know that, via systems of care, families experience less stress and have a better chance of being employed.”
