Nursing Excellence Investing in Our Frontline

It’ s the nurses who often make a real difference in what can be an emotional and difficult experience for patients. Nurses comfort and ease pain, reduce fear, and at times even celebrate successes with our patients and families. The work of nurses is critical to the success of any hospital, and CHI St. Luke’ s Health has a long and impressive nursing history.
Baylor St. Luke’ s was the first hospital in Texas to receive designation as a Magnet Hospital for Nursing Excellence – a designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. It has since become a four-time recipient of the award. Donor support of our nursing programs help us continue to excel in various initiatives, such as advanced education and training programs, nursing recognition, recruitment of outstanding nursing leaders, and raising funds for clinical nursing research. In particular, Friends of Nursing has been vital to the education and training of these remarkable professionals, awarding its first scholarship in 1987. Since then, more than 155 deserving recipients have advanced their nursing careers with scholarship and fellowship assistance provided by Friends of Nursing donors.
