possibilities the individual will have a blue eye color caused by the deficiency of melanin pigment (Starr, 2013). Now let’s consider two blue eyed parents. One has a normally functioning HERC2 gene and mutated OCA2 gene where the other one has a mutated HERC2 gene but a normally functioning OCA2 gene. When producing an offspring if the healthy HERC2 gene is inherited from first parent and healthy OCA2 gene from the second one, the new individual will have both HERC2 and OCA2 genes well-functioning and will be able to synthesize melanin pigment which will make him have brown eye color (Starr, 2013). Nature has many exceptions which we have difficulty in explaining with our current science knowledge. As long as the humans are on the earth, neither the questions nor the developments made in order to find answers will ever end. BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT Bibliography: Allott, A., & Midroff , D. (2014).
