o Effectively acquired and processed USDA brown box and commodity items
o Developed a schedule for minor esthetics in the serving areas at our elementary schools
Purchasing
The Purchasing Department serves as the central procurement authority for the District. In support of the District’ s goals, department responsibilities include purchasing and receiving, service contracts, fixed assets, surplus, and mail services.
• Continued to develop a better understanding of the District’ s needs through site visits
• In preparation for upcoming bond projects, the Purchasing Department updated the Districtwide standards for fixtures and equipment
• Developed plans to introduce a receiving module( similar to FedEx and UPS signing for packages) in the District.
Future Focus:
Maintain focus on fiscal stability and a transparent approach for the equitable allocation of resources Districtwide, in support of Student Achievement, Strengthening Relationships, and Leadership Development.
• Work towards eliminating structural deficit by expanding funding sources( i. e. grants and partnerships)
o Continue to work with state legislators on District of Choice reauthorization and extension
• Develop a plan in response to legislative outcome
• Maintain or increase the District’ s credit rating from Standard and Poor’ s Financial Services, for the successful sale of WV bonds
• Continue to move forward with implementing a solid position control system
• Develop a plan to maximize our Facilities Use Agreements for leasing school sites, as an additional source of revenue
• Develop an online ticket system for open work orders, which will provide sites with real time information regarding the status of their order
• Create an online ordering system for the Yellow Bus Café
