Transportation
The Transportation Services Department provides our students with safe, reliable
transportation in support of quality educational instruction and student academic achievement.
The school bus routes and assigned stops are developed following District guidelines and
require Board approval. Currently, the District provides daily transportation for approximately
1,500 students.

On November 16, 2016, the Board awarded a contract to Fueling and Service
Technologies to replace the District Yard Gas Tank. Equipment was installed and safety
tested. This project is now complete.
Nutrition Services
The Department participates in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program and
continues to remain self-sustaining. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) supplemented
meals account for only 14% of the overall meals served.

Department Highlights (through January 2017) Include:
o Served 650,500 student lunches
o Served 61,186 student breakfasts
o Of the 277 visiting students from China and the adults accompanying them, the
Department served 1,306 and 157 meals respectively
o The District hosted The California Department of Education (CDE) Procurement in
the 21 st Century training for all the Los Angeles area districts and Nutrition Services
provided the food for this event
o Established long-term fiscal alternatives to ensure the future health of the District in
light of current fiscal constraints
o Re-established the Wellness Policy Committee to include:
Nutrition Promotion
Nutrition Education
Physical Activity
Other school-based activities that promote school wellness
Policies for Food and Beverage served or sold to students
o Promoted student taste tests and surveys
o Utilized marketing strategies to increase Yellow Bus Café sales
o Participated in a Purchasing Cooperative at the local level for non-commodity items
