WVUSD: 2016/2017 Year-End Results
The first year implementation of using the Illuminate data warehousing system was a success.
Illuminate is a web-based software program that allows educators to store student performance
data and retrieve the data through various student reports. A full-day of professional
development training allowed each site to send three to five site trainers who were then
responsible for training staff members at their individual sites and becoming an on-site resource
throughout the year.
Educational Services has continued providing Anti-Defamation League (ADL) training, which
supports an understanding and appreciation for diversity and cultural awareness.
Approximately 750 WVUSD employees have attended this training during the past four years.
Curriculum Councils have been established to support teachers in the curricular areas of Math,
Science, Social Science, and English Language Arts. Taking a grassroots approach, teachers
collaborate to identify needs and discuss possible resources and strategies to support teachers
and students within the content area. Examples include exploring options for the Next
Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the professional development needs of supporting
the recently adopted Math textbook series.
