You can take a land trust hike, join a garden or car club, become involved with one of the many local arts organizations, take a course at Sierra College or volunteer to be a state park docent. Learn more about the area’ s colorful history by visiting the Nevada County Historical Society website where you will find information on membership, programs and volunteer opportunities at the society’ s three museums and research library. Also, consider joining other women at the Barbara Schmidt Millar Celebration of Life Triathlon. Individuals and teams compete. There is also a fun run / walk. The event is sponsored by the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation( 530-477-9700).
For those interested in service and fellowship, Nevada County has a number of very active service clubs including Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions and Soroptimist International. Specific information can be found online under club name and community, for example Kiwanis, Grass Valley.
