REVIEW
Assistant coach Dan Miller enters his fourth season with the
Nebraska women's gymnastics program in 2015. Miller coaches
Nebraska's vault and floor squads.
Miller guided Nebraska’s vault and floor lineups to great
success in 2014, aiding NU in compiling a 27-11 overall
record. Several Huskers posted career highs on vault and floor,
continually setting the bar high all the way into postseason
competition. Jessie DeZiel captured NACGC/W regular-season
All-America honors on vault as she posted a 9.975 score twice
during the season. Emily Wong collected her third consecutive
All-America award on floor by taking home a ninth-place finish
at the NCAA Championships.
Miller helped Nebraska’s vault and floor lineups continue to
dominate in 2013. At the Big Ten Championships, the Huskers
posted four individual vault scores of 9.95 and a team-high
score of 49.725, which helped secure the Huskers the Big
Ten Conference title. Miller guided Britanny Skinner to her
individual vault appearance at the NCAA Championships and
Wong and DeZiel to earn All-America awards. Wong on floor,
vault and the all-around and DeZiel in the all-around.
During his first season at Nebraska in 2012, Miller guided
DeZiel to first-team All-America honors on floor and secondteam honors on vault. He also assisted in the development of
Janelle Giblin, who earned first-team honors on vault, and
Wong, who earned second-team honors on floor exercise.
Under Miller's tutelage, the Huskers garnered a total of 15 floor
titles and 14 vault titles throughout 2012.
Prior to joining the Nebraska staff, Miller served as owner
and head coach for 12 years at Arena Gymnastics in Joliet, Ill.
While at Arena, he coached over 50 Level 10 national qualifiers
and 16 national team members. In addition, he has guided six
gymnasts to Level 10 all-around championships and qualified
more than 20 gymnasts to the Region 5 All-Star Teams. With
over 30 years of coaching experience, Miller has seen more than
30 athletes receive full-ride scholarships.
In addition to his tenure at Arena, Miller served on the
Region 5 Board and as the Region 5 Camp Director for over 10
years. He has been honored six times as the Region 5 Junior
Olympic Coach of the Year and has been awarded the five-and
10-year service award from USA Gymnastics. Miller also served
as a coach at Cincinnati Gymnastics and Midwest Gymnastics.
Dan and his wife, Beth, have two sons: Brandon (12) and
Kyle (10).
