National Titles are decided by a second chance format progressing into two semifinals with
the winner of each semi progressing to the final. Overall state winner is awarded by total
points at end of championships - 2 points for a win, 1 point for a loss. Seeding is based on
the result of team placing at the previous year’s championships.
To determine the winner of the heat both surfers scores are added together as a combined
team score. Highest combined score wins the heat.
School surfing uses all the same rules (interference etc.) and judging criteria as set out in
the Surfing Australia rule book. Each state is able to nominate a pair in each of the age
groups and each of the divisions.
