2015 Rotax Pro Tour | Round 5 | Eastern Creek | Page 3

WELCOME

Welcome to the 2015 Jason Richards Memorial. It is the first time that the Rotax Pro Tour has visited Eastern Creek in over 5 years, and I think we are in for a great weekend.

I would like to thank the North Shore Kart Club for all their hard work. These events are stressful and difficult and we all should appreciate the effort that host clubs put in to run these events.

The team at IKD work extra hard when it comes to this event. The Jason Richards Memorial means a lot to me personally and I never want to run the event if we cannot do it justice. We have a great event planned for Saturday night. The band “STELLAR” will kick off as soon as racing comes to a close, we have a sausage sizzle, and most importantly the awarding of the Jason Richards Memorial Award for 2015 - we have even hired heaters to keep us all warm!!!!!!

The Jason Richards Memorial Award has become a very prestigious award. It is an award that cannot be won on the track, it is an award given to somebody who demonstrates something much more important than the ability to win a race. In the past, this award has been given to Troy Woolston, Hamish Leighton and Steve Ellery and this year I think we have chosen a very worthy recipient to continue to tradition of this award. Please support this event, I know it is going to be a little bit chilly but we will not let it drag out into the night. Enjoy some music and a BBQ and be on hand to see who wins the Jason Richards Memorial Award for 2015.

The 2015 Rotax Pro Tour is starting to get very serious now. People are studying the form and analysing their positions in the points. Clearly, the Rotax World Final is the most anticipated Karting event in the World. Those that have been, know how special it can be and I am sure everybody here wants to be on a plane to Portugal in November.

I would like to make special mention of the DD2 class. This weekend is the annual running of the Jason Richards Cup which is awarded to the winner of the DD2 class at this event. This race has been won by Kyle Ensbey, Jason Pringle and last year was Jordan Boys. I guess these guys would like to see their name on the Trophy again but then again Troy Woolston, Ryan Kennedy or Will Brown will all be fighting hard to win the race too….the DD2 final will be a cracker of a race!!!!!

Don’t forget, this weekend's race also concludes the NSW State Championships for 2015….so, all “open” classes, meaning everything except for Junior Trophy Class will also be receiving State Championship Trophies at our presentation on Sunday afternoon.

Good Luck everybody, I hope you have a great weekend.
