Pirouettes of the Absent Mind :The Nocturnal Circus
Pirouettes of the Absent Mind :The Nocturnal Circus, is a performance
that will take place in a space of complete darkness. Dawson’s Odd Fellows’
Ballroom will be transformed into a kind of void; reacquainting Yukoners
with night and the Unknown.
The dark space, in the performance, becomes the shared space of both the
performers and audiences mind with performances that animate the dreams,
anxieties, fears, fantasies and neurotic tendencies that the mind has in
engaging with the physical world.
Performers will guide participants in an engaging experience of the absurd;
inspired by vaudeville and a Lynch-ian aesthetic.The ballroom becomes
both winter and the recession into the mind. Playful monologues and music
animate the insecurities of winters approach and the absent-minded ness of
summer.
& Ololololo: by Chloe Lum and Yannick Desranleau (Montreal, QC)
Chloe Lum and Yannick Desranleau are interested in the life and actions
of materials; how shifting, scuffing, peeling, crushing and fading creates
performative gestures within space. Their performative work with dancers
builds on these gestures as well as the movements of their own bodies
when deploying objects within the exhibition space. They are interested
in the body as material object and in the material object as performing
body. Both are beings in space with physical qualities and will. By building
choreographies of object-related tasks they are furthering their exploration
of materiality, entropy, collaboration and labour.

The ODD Gallery Art Auction is a fun, long-standing tradition
of the Riverside Arts Festival. Artists have contributed their creative talents
to this auction, the ODD Gallery’s keynote fundraiser and art-collecting
extravaganza. All proceeds will go the maintenance and
expansion of the Gallery and Residence programming.
Artwork will be on view in the KIAC Ballroom throughout the weekend,
with the final bids occurring during the Saturday evening event. A live
auction will ensue with the four most popular items.
