38 RENOWN HEALTH VOLUNTEERS GIVE BACK THERE WHEN PEOPLE NEED HER MOST There are hundreds of compassionate, everyday heroes who donate their time and talent to Renown Health. Our volunteers help patients and their families in many different ways — from rocking babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to delivering flowers and gifts. We couldn’t do it without them. Over the past 15 years, Linda Derry has volunteered more than 2,300 hours helping to ensure the comfort and dignity of terminally ill patients and their families. Her selfless contributions have helped make Renown’s Hospice Care program an invaluable peace-of-mind resource for those facing life’s greatest challenge. 42,600 hours served by our volunteers 300 volunteers 13 therapy dogs, including Waldo (pictured) 6 musicians who play at the bedside 24 high school student volunteers 10 fine artists who volunteer their creative gifts 39 volunteers who’ve made a genuine difference for five or more years “The biggest gift we can give these patients is our ability to listen and empathize,” she says. “Just knowing someone’s right there and genuinely listening can make all the difference in the world.” COMMUNITY AND PARTNERSHIPS 39
