RENOWN EMPLOYEES ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY EVERY DAY LACI CROW RN, SURGICAL SERVICES LACI’S PASSION: WOMEN AND GIRLS STRUGGLING TO RISE ABOVE POVERTY “When I worked in labor and delivery, I saw firsthand how when you begin to promote education for women, really good things start to happen within their families. And the benefits to the children are rapidly apparent,” says Laci Crow. “I wanted to do something to inspire like-minded people to help more women break the cycle of poverty.” THE INITIATIVE: DINING FOR WOMEN 30 “Women helping impoverished women and girls around the world” — that’s the mission of Dining for Women (DFW). And in 2014, Laci launched a local chapter of this acclaimed organization. DFW is a giving circle that meets monthly for a potluck meal. The money that would have otherwise been spent dining out is collected and donated to various charities and programs that support women and girls endeavoring to improve their lives. 31 THE DIFFERENCE MADE: CHANGING LIVES LOCALLY AND GLOBALLY Laci supports local organizations such as Safe Embrace, which provides emergency shelter and educational programs to women and children in crisis due to domestic violence. But Laci and her fastgrowing team of contributors have also raised funds for girls in a Nepal orphanage, enabling them to attend school. “DFW is an enormously rewarding way for anyone to help change the world.” Laci Crow, RN (right), is shown with Vanessa Monroe of the local nonprofit group Safe Embrace — a women’s and children’s domestic violence shelter and support group. Safe Embrace is one organization that Laci’s chapter of the national Dining for Women charity helps support. COMMUNITY AND PARTNERSHIPS
