Town & City Destinations
During the summer months, our
communities are bustling with tourists
experiencing community festivals and
events. Canada Day is celebrated
throughout the region on July 1st and
many communities have impressive
fireworks displays. Just about every town
or city puts on its own unique major event
or festival. Learn about float planes at the
Norseman Festival in Red Lake or join in
the festivities at MooseFest in the City of
Dryden. In Kenora, the big party each
summer happens at Harbourfest while in
Sioux Lookout it's the Blueberry Festival.
Learn about local history at White Otter
Days in Ignace or music lovers can visit
Ear Falls and take in the Trout Forest
Music Festival or Bluesfest in Thunder
Bay. Atikokan is Canada's Canoe Capital
and they celebrate this paddling heritage
all summer.
Along with the bigger events, many local
craft sales and aboriginal Pow Wows take
place during the summer. In the winter
months enjoy the outdoors at snowmobile
poker derbies and ice fishing tournaments.
See our Events Directory page 50 and 51
