Beaches & Parks
On a hot summer’s day there’s no better
feeling than sitting in the sand on a beach
and taking a dip in the cool, clean waters
of a freshwater lake. When you travel
through Sunset Country, you’ll be able to
do that just about anywhere you go! Since
most of the towns and cities in the region
are on or next to one (or more) lakes it’s a
natural that we have some great beaches.
Here’s a list of beaches and parks:
Enjoy the beach and crystal clear water at Sioux Narrows Provincial Park.
Farmers Markets
One of the big tourist attractions over the
past several years has been the farmers
markets which occur in several
communities across the Sunset Country
region. These are generally weekly events
and are a true community gathering. Not
only can you buy traditional products like
fresh vegetables and meat but there are
extensive displays of crafts, hand-made
jewelry and other unique items.
Some of the biggest farmers markets are
located in the City of Kenora (every
Wednesday during the summer at the
Harbourfront), and the Clover Valley
Farmers Market in Fort Frances
(www.clovervalleyfarmersmarket.ca)
which has been around for 24 years and
operates year round.
