Beaches & Parks
Just about every community in Ontario’s
Sunset Country has a public beach and
many towns have several to choose from.
As you’re traveling through any community
and if it’s a hot day, then look for a local
beach and take a cool dip in the lake.
Farmers Markets
If you want a taste of local produce, some
locally made crafts or folk art then visit
one of the many weekly Farmers Markets
that occur every summer across Sunset
Country. Not only will you meet some
interesting people, farmers markets are
great places to find that unique souvenir to
take back home.

Waterfalls
With 70,000 lakes and rivers we are
bound to have a few (hundred) waterfalls
scattered across the region. The
combination of thousands of interconnected lakes and the rugged Canadian
Shield landscapes make for some
incredible scenic vistas.
Wildlife Viewing
One of the highlights of any trip to Sunset
Country is the opportunity to see wildlife
in its natural habitat. Some of the best
sightings occur when you least expect it or
you’re not even trying – like say, when you
are driving down the highway. Not only
do you have a chance to see large
mammals like bear, deer and moose but
also many species of birds including bald
eagles, loons and pelicans. Have your
camera ready!
Museums & Interpretive Centres
If you want insight into the diverse history
of the Sunset Country region, then the best
place to start are the local museums. Learn
the story of the Anishinaabe, the first
people who settled the region and who
have lived here for centuries. Discover the
interesting stories of the first Europeans,
the fur traders who opened up the land to
settlement and the stories of those who
established the first towns.
