The Lake of the Woods Region
Taking its name after one of the largest lakes
on the continent, the Lake of the Woods
region is mostly although not entirely about
this incredible body of water. Consider for a
moment that Lake of the Woods has a
surface area covering over one million acres
and is dotted with over 14,500 islands. Add
up the main shoreline and the shoreline of
the islands and it exceeds that of Lake
Superior. Now that’s something to brag
about!

Because of all the islands this vast body of
water seems like many hundreds of lakes
within a lake and the rugged terrain makes
for some great fishing and in many people’s
opinion, the best muskie fishing on the
