Outdoor Recreation Fishing Once you’ve fished Sunset Country you’ll probably never go anywhere else. The fishing is that good and it’s because of the variety of fish you can catch in consistent numbers and the size. Walleye, northern, muskie, small and largemouth bass, lake & brook trout, crappie and perch can all be caught in our lakes. That fish of a lifetime you’ve always thought about probably lives up here. Hunting If it’s big game you’re after then you should consider us for your next trip. You’ll be hunting on Crown Land in some rugged wilderness areas. Bring your rifle or your bow and pursue gigantic whitetail bucks, huge bear or the biggest of all, a bull moose. Duck and grouse hunts are also available. 10 Canoeing & Kayaking Hiking Sunset Country has thousands of miles of canoe routes through lake and river systems that are deep in the heart of the wilderness. Famous wilderness parks such as Quetico, Woodland Caribou and Wabakimi are on the bucket list of any serious paddler. Kayakers can venture out on our lakes and rivers with their rugged shorelines and countless islands. Whether you’re here on a camping trip or you’re on a serious wilderness expedition, the rugged Canadian Shield landscapes make for some fantastic hiking. Bring your GPS and venture into the back country. Many of our towns and cities have fantastic urban trail systems offering a wilderness hiking experience close to town. Watersports Even if you’re coming up to fish, think about bringing your clubs and experience some of North America’s more unique golf courses. Sunset Country has some really interesting courses that are likely to be quite different than what you are used to back home. When you have 70,000 freshwater lakes you can certainly be called a “boater friendly” destination and indeed we are.
