Fishing
Canada’s Premier Fishing
Destination
Widely regarded as Canada’s premier
fishing destination, Sunset Country has
lots to offer the avid angler. Up here, there
are so many lakes that even if you tried
you couldn’t fish all of them in one
lifetime, maybe even two! Our lakes range
in size from a few hundred acres to
hundreds of thousands of acres all teeming
with a wide variety of fish.
Walleye, northern pike, trout, bass and
muskie are the “big five” species most
visitors come looking for and on some
lakes, you can catch all of these in pretty
much the same place. As a bonus, we also

have fantastic fishing for smaller species
such as perch and black crappie. During
the winter months even though the
temperature outside is cold, the fishing is
still hot, you just have to fish through a
hole in the ice!
A Variety of Choices
You have a wide variety of fishing packages
to choose from. There are fly-in, drive-in,
even boat-in lodges so pick your mode of
access and make your plans. If you want to
pamper yourself a bit try an all-inclusive
American plan trip that includes all your
food, accommodations, a boat, motor and a
guide. If you want a more casual schedule
then a housekeeping package where you
cook for yourself is the way to go. You

don’t have to tow your own boat as every
lodge has boat and motor rental packages
available for their guests.
For something really unique and out of the
way, you can rent an outpost cabin and
essentially “own” the lake you are on
during your time there. Accessible almost
exclusively by float plane, these remote
cabins are on lakes few others get to fish.
You are guaranteed some of the hottest
fishing action available anywhere. Perhaps
even more unique and just as exciting is
when you rent a houseboat, the equivalent
of a cabin that floats! Drive it around the
lake in search of big fish and moor on a
different wilderness beach each night!
