Outdoor Recreation
Fishing
Once you’ve fished Sunset Country you’ll
probably never go anywhere else. The fishing
is that good and it’s because of the variety of
fish you can catch in consistent numbers and
the size. Walleye, northern, muskie, small
and largemouth bass, lake & brook trout,
crappie and perch can all be caught in our
lakes. That fish of a lifetime you’ve always
thought about probably lives up here.
Hunting
If it’s big game you’re after then you
should consider us for your next trip.
You’ll be hunting on Crown Land in some
rugged wilderness areas. Bring your rifle
or your bow and pursue gigantic whitetail
bucks, huge bear or the biggest of all, a
bull moose. Duck and grouse hunts are
also available.

Canoeing & Kayaking
Hiking
Sunset Country has thousands of miles of
canoe routes through lake and river
systems that are deep in the heart of the
wilderness. Famous wilderness parks such
as Quetico, Woodland Caribou and
Wabakimi are on the bucket list of any
serious paddler. Kayakers can venture out
on our lakes and rivers with their rugged
shorelines and countless islands.
Whether you’re here on a camping trip or
you’re on a serious wilderness expedition,
the rugged Canadian Shield landscapes
make for some fantastic hiking. Bring your
GPS and venture into the back country.
Many of our towns and cities have fantastic
urban trail systems offering a wilderness
hiking experience close to town.
Watersports
Even if you’re coming up to fish, think
about bringing your clubs and experience
some of North America’s more unique golf
courses. Sunset Country has some really
interesting courses that are likely to be
quite different than what you are used to
back home.
When you have 70,000 freshwater lakes you
can certainly be called a “boater friendly”
destination and indeed we are. There are
endless opportunities for recreational water
sports like paddleboarding, wakeboarding or
even parasailing. Catch our waves and spend
great days out on the water.
