Her 157.2 innings were the fifth-most by a freshman in school history, but were the most since Voss threw a record 295.1 innings in 1997. Overall, Lockman ranked 46th nationally in ERA, including fourth among all freshmen. In the Big Ten, Lockman ranked second in ERA, seventh in opponent batting average and tied for ninth in wins. She allowed the fewest runs (49) of any Big Ten pitcher who threw at least 100 innings in 2013, allowing 23 fewer runs than any other pitcher. Lockman was at her best against the top competition. She went 2-2 against top-10 opponents with a 2.17 ERA in 38.2 innings. She was 2-1 in her three complete games against top-10 foes with an impressive 1.05 ERA, including road victories at No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 3 Oregon. Lockman tossed a seven-hit shutout against the national champions in early March, snapping OU’s season-opening 17-game win streak. She was one of only four pitchers to defeat Oklahoma in 2013, and one of only two to shut out the Sooners. Her superb effort against OU marked Nebraska’s second win over a No. 1 team in school history, but its first road win over a top-ranked opponent. In the NCAA Tournament, Lockman made three appearances against top-10 teams, posting a 1-1 record with a 2.23 ERA. In the Big Ten Tournament, Lockman allowed only one run in a complete-game effort against Minnesota. Overall, Lockman allowed one earned run or less in 15 of her 28 appearances, and two of her six losses were 1-0 setbacks. Her highest strikeout total was 11 against Wichita State on March 9, while she also struck out nine in a win over Northwestern. Lockman struck out nine Aggies in a sixinning no-hitter against Utah State on Feb. 16 in just her fourth career start. She was the first Husker freshman to throw a no-hitter since Summer Tobias in 2003, and Lockman recorded her first career no-hitter earlier than any other pitcher in school history.
