While no catcher on the Husker roster has caught a game for the Big Red, senior transfer Steph Pasquale does have starting experience at the collegiate level after starting 133 games as Temple's catcher from 2011 to 2014. Pasquale not only has experience at the position, she has also been recognized as one of the nation's best. As a freshman in 2011, Pasquale was honored as a first-team NFCA All-Northeast Region performer in addition to being named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Year. She joined Nebraska's Taylor Edwards as the only two freshmen catchers to earn first-team all-region recognition in 2011. A native of Pompton Lakes, N.J., Pasquale earned first-team all-conference accolades as a sophomore in 2012 before a breakout junior campaign in 2013. As a junior, Pasquale was named a third-team NFCA All-American and the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year after batting .465 with 21 doubles, 15 home runs and 80 RBIs. Pasquale was poised for an encore performance in 2014 before suffering a season-ending injury early in the season. She was granted a medical hardship and a fifth year of eligibility following the season, and Pasquale chose to transfer to Nebraska after Temple dropped its softball program. At Temple, Pasquale produced a .379 career batting average with 45 doubles, 25 homers and 152 RBIs, while slugging .623 and reaching base at a .445 clip. She ranks in a tie for fifth among all active Division I players with her 45 doubles and is 10th with her 152 RBIs. Pasqu
