The Big Ten did not hold a tournament in 2009 or 2010. Effective in 2015 , the Big Ten Tournament will be played in a revised format based on each school’s seeding. The top-four seeded teams in the conference at the end of the regular season will host the Big Ten quarterfinals on Sunday, Nov. 1. The top-seeded team remaining in the tournament will then play host to the semifinals on Nov. 6 and the championship finals on Nov. 8. The championship field will be determined following the conclusion of regular-season play. Starting in 1994, host-school Wisconsin won the first conference tournament with a 3-0 win over Minnesota, while the Badgers added another tournament title in 2005. Nine programs overall have won a Big Ten Tournament title, including five teams that have won multiple crowns. Penn State is the only school with more than three tournament titles, as the Nittany Lions have won five crowns (1998, 2000, 2001, 2006, 2008). Nebraska won its first Big Ten Tournament title with a 1-0 victory over Iowa in Champaign, Ill. It followed the Huskers’ first Big Ten regular-season crown in 2013. The Huskers, along with Illinois, Penn State, Ohio State, Iowa, Indiana and Michigan each earned bids to the 2013 NCAA Tournament, with the Wolverines advancing to the Elite Eight. As a member of the Big 12 Conference, Nebraska enjoyed tremendous success at the league tournament, capturing five titles and producing an 18-9 all-time record. Nebraska’s five Big 12 titles came in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2002. The Huskers also claimed regular-season crowns in 1996, 1999 and 2000. The 2015 NCAA Tournament will consist of 64 teams, beginning on Nov. 13 and ending with the national championship game on Dec. 6 in Cary, N.C. at WakeMed Soccer Park. The first three rounds and the quarterfinals will take place at campus sites around the country. The first and second rounds will be held Nov. 13-15 at campus sites. Second and third-round games will be contested at eight host institutions, Nov. 20-22. The tournament quarterfinals take place Nov. 27-29 at four campus sites. The 34th annual Women’s College Cup will begin with the semifinals on Dec. 4 in Cary, N.C., and the 2015 national champion will be crowned on Dec. 6. Nebraska has been host to opening-round action on eight occasions since 1996, advancing to six straight NCAA Sweet 16 appearances from 1996 to 2001 and eight in the last 14 years overall.
