2015 BIG TEN TOURNAMENT
Sunday, Nov. 1 - Sunday, Nov. 8
Location: TBA
58
The Big Ten Tournament returned with
Nebraska’s first season in the conference in
2011. The Big Ten did not hold a tournament in
2009 or 2010.
Effective in 2015 , the Big Ten Tournament
will be played in a revised format based on each
school’s seeding. The top-four seeded teams in
the conference at the end of the regular season
will host the Big Ten quarterfinals on Sunday,
Nov. 1. The top-seeded team remaining in the
tournament will then play host to the semifinals on
Nov. 6 and the championship finals on Nov. 8. The
championship field will be determined following
the conclusion of regular-season play.
Starting in 1994, host-school Wisconsin won the first conference tournament with a 3-0 win over Minnesota, while the Badgers added another tournament title
in 2005. Nine programs overall have won a Big Ten Tournament title, including five teams that have won multiple crowns. Penn State is the only school with more
than three tournament titles, as the Nittany Lions have won five crowns (1998, 2000, 2001, 2006, 2008).
Nebraska won its first Big Ten Tournament title with a 1-0 victory over Iowa in Champaign, Ill. It followed the Huskers’ first Big Ten regular-season crown in 2013.
The Huskers, along with Illinois, Penn State, Ohio State, Iowa, Indiana and Michigan each earned bids to the 2013 NCAA Tournament, with the Wolverines
advancing to the Elite Eight.
As a member of the Big 12 Conference, Nebraska enjoyed tremendous success at the league tournament, capturing five titles and producing an 18-9 all-time
record. Nebraska’s five Big 12 titles came in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2002. The Huskers also claimed regular-season crowns in 1996, 1999 and 2000.
