Confluence @ THE SOVA Gallery
During the summer when classes are no longer in session, the Yukon School of the Arts
gallery space becomes home to the volunteer-run Confluence at the SOVA Gallery.
While KIAC’s ODD Gallery generally provides a venue for art creators from across the
country, the Confluence at the SOVA Gallery focuses exclusively on the work of local
and regional artists at all stages of their careers – all members of the Dawson City
Arts Society (DCAS). Exhibitions regularly showcase painting, photography, video,
installation art, sculpture, found art, or thematic group shows.
Over 680 gallery visitors attended the shows held in the SOVA Gallery during the
summer of 2015. The exhibitions were: Blanket Fort, a group show; Strange Things
Done, a group show by the Camera Obscura students; Geometry, Mystery and Pluralism
by Karen Thomas, and Adonika Jayne, Positive Negative by Blair Douglas; and Making
Work/Celebrating the Year of Craft – the annual KIAC Members Exhibit.
