Girls Badminton
Girls A -Played:9 Won:4 Lost:5
This team was entered in B grade but due to a lack of
numbers in A grade, they ended up playing in a combined A/B grade. This young team (3 of the girls are
in year 10) acquitted themselves very well. Their best
result was probably against Sacred Heart A. The match
finished 3 all, but we won on a points countback.
This team represented us against Tawa College. Tawa
College always has very good badminton teams and
this year was no exception. This tie was lost 6 nil but
all the girls played very competitive games. Closest to
taking a set was team captain CJ Peralta who lost her
2nd set in singles 29-31.
Girls B -Played:8 Won:6 Lost:2
This team comprised all juniors. They had a very good
season recording wins over Sacred Heart, Woodford,
Hastings Girls, Wairoa, Flaxmere and Karamu. They
even had a road trip to Wairoa.
The team: Emily Hosford, Felicity Keane, Taylor Kittow and Rebecca Richards
Girls C -Played:9 Won:6 Lost:3
Due to injury, this team had only four players all season. Despite having to default one game, they still had
a very successful season. Wins were against Woodford,
Tamatea, Hastings Girls, Karamu and Iona.
The team: Courtney Ellingham-Prebble, Meina Ishikawa, Samara Barber and Megan Ree
Girls D -Played:9 Won:2 Lo st:7
This team contained players who were playing for
the first time. Their only wins were unfortunately by
default but they still appeared to enjoy themselves and
their skills certainly improved.
The team: Hannah Martin, Cara Gallagher, Mikayla
Power, Manisha Phartyal and Maddy Kaye-Slade

HBSS Singles & Doubles Tournament
This event was held at the Rodney Green Stadium in
Napier. We had 11 girls entered and everyone thoroughly
enjoyed the day. Our best results came from Stephanie
Houghton who was the B Grade Plate winner.
The following week 18 girls travelled to the stadium for the
doubles event.
Olivia Addis paired up with Natalya Taylor once again
and they took out the Girls’ B-Grade Doubles title for the
third year running. This is a great effort considering the
girls had not played together since last year’s competition.
The school also had another great performance from Cara
Gallagher and team mate, Felicity Keane, who after losing
their initial game, went on to take out the Girls’ C-Grade
Doubles Plate.
