When asked what motivates her to achieve success in Orienteering, she says it is her love of the sport and the fact that she is competitive. “The chance of getting into a New Zealand team and competing overseas and running in cool terrain motivates me. And I love running in different terrain e.g. sand dunes, gullies, forest and the fact that sometimes Kangaroos jump past you”. Her career highlight so far has to be traveling to Turkey for the World Schools Orienteering Championships. “Running in terrain over in Turkey because it was so different to New Zealand. Theirs was covered in huge boulders and rocks. Also winning a world title over in Turkey in the Junior Girls World Schools event (long)”. Her ambition for the future sums her up. “I hope to get selected for the New Zealand Junior World Orienteering Champs team and compete against other teams from around the world.
