Junior drama has seen the usual lively mix of improv, team building and storytelling in the ten week modules
taught to all Year 9 classes. Year 10 drama expanded for the second year running to three option classes, also
reflected in the healthy numbers attending after school drama each week.
Our senior students provided community service by thrice performing in the police-sponsored Blue Light campaign. Four actors were heavily made up as crash victims and then ‘rescued’ from two wrecked vehicles in front
of a live audience. These mock accidents, complete with police arrests, fire engines, cutting gear, body bags and
hearse, were used to punch home the reality of dangerous driving to young motorists.
Highlights for our Year 13 class this year included their performance of Renee’s Wednesday to Come at the end
of term two, followed by their trip to Wellington and the national drama school, Toi Whakaari, in August. They
were also given a tour of the Thunderbirds Are Go! facilities in Miramar on top of viewing two productions at
Circa Theatre. They were later fortunate enough to host Chris Brougham, lead actor from Circa’s The Ugly One,
as part of the school’s Arts Festival in September.
Final recognition must go to our dedicated techies for their contribution to a multitude of auditorium events,
including House Kapa Haka, Talent Quest, Arts Festival, Music Fest and the Technology Showcase this year.
