Orchestra has truly been an enjoyable
experience this year. In the hands of Mr
Cargill and violinist Larissa Kent, we began
preparations for the Music Festival 2015, of
which we have all agreed went very well. While
small in number, our group has come
together a long way since the beginning of the
year, learning a large repertoire of pieces, such
as themes from the hit movie; “Frozen”, the
lively “Leroy Anderson Irish Suite”, and the
nostalgic “Stardust”. In short, it has been a
pleasure and a privilege to perform in a group
with so many talented students, and under the
direction of the everwonderful (and patient)

This year Stage Band is a smaller group, with only
seven members - a trumpeter, tenor and alto
saxophonists, a bass guitarist, a drummer, and pianists
led by Mr Robbie Cargill. Stage Band is a great group
to be in, expanding our skills with challenging, yet fun,
pieces, and is a supportive ensemble to play in.

Stage Band has performed together with Concert Band
and Orchestra in the Lindisfarne Festival of Bands
and the school Music Festival. These have been highly
valuable
experiences which allowed us to play our music as a
part of a larger ensemble. Playing with Junior Jazz
Band, a larger jazz group designed for years seven
to ten, was also enjoyable as several members of our
group started off in Junior Jazz Band in year nine. We
also played alongside Junior Jazz Band in this years
Music Festival.
We look forward to continuing with Stage Band and Mr
Cargill next year, hopefully along with some newly
graduated members from the junior band, and are
excited for new pieces, new challenges and more
experiences.
