Forum 2015 was a busy year for Forum, comprising of the 8 house leaders, head boy and girl, and Board of Trustees Representative-this year a Year 12 student! We began with a “meet the new teacher” evening, which was our first public outing and gave us a taste of the formalities associated with being a student leader. Following this was an appointment at Havelock North Intermediate School where we met their student leaders, and gave them some leadership mentoring-they might one day be in our position so it was good to give them a good experience! Another public outing was the opening of the recently renovated 100 Block, which was another experience to showcase ourselves as a responsible student body and see the hard work put into creating such a vibrant setting. better! We avidly got behind the breast cancer awareness cause, dressing up in pink and creating a positive vibe throughout the school. We also got behind anti-bullying in a “Suited Up Against Bullying” day, where the year 13 contingency dressed up in our suits in opposition to bullying, as well as getting a food initiative going where students bring cans of food into school, to donate to the Food Bank for Christmas. We hope that these movements help society for the Forum also came up with a Leavers Yearbook initiative, which hasn’t been done at HNHS for a number of years. book that the departing Year 13’s can enjoy for years to come! We also contributed the mural in the 100 Block depicting Cape Kidnappers. We hope this brightens up the space and is there for a long time. Overall, this year for forum has been full on and very productive. We hope to have achieved a better school than what we started the year with, and we are all honoured to be givenour respective roles to be placed on Forum. Thanks to Mr Wilton for his guidance this year, we couldn’t have done it without you, and we hope we represented the student body in a positive and accurate light. -Forum 2015.
