Community Partner: Project Homeless Connect( United Way of Central Maryland) Intern: Lalita Ganti Site Supervisors: Scott Gottbreht What is United Way of Central Maryland’ s Project Homeless Connect? Project Homeless Connect is a national model for delivering services to the homeless community by bringing together services to meet every need into one place at one time.
Tasks:
• Coordinate and reel in providers for the Mondawmin Festival and Project Homeless Connect
• Plan the Mondawmin Festival( held by Major Stephanie Rawlings‐Blake) as part of the core“ Steering Committee”
• Create Mondawmin Mall layout for Mondawmin Festival providers using Photoshop
• Responsible for all PHC meeting notes and PHC outreach.
I can’ t even begin to explain how thankful I am to have had the opportunity to work with so many great people and do more impactful things than I ever expected. First, I was a part of the planning committee for the Mondawmin Festival, a resource fair for impacted West Baltimore. The event was meant to revitalize the area and the mall. This was a rewarding experience, as I was able to learn about coordinating all the services a person might need to get back on their feet, and help thousands of people in the process. I had a lot on my plate, but I am so glad that my colleagues trusted me enough to take a lead in the planning, and am honored that the Mayor appreciated my efforts. ‐Lalita
