Toulouse-Lautrec Attracting tens of thousands of art enthusiasts, the Arlington Museum of Art’s (AMA) “Toulouse-Lautrec and La Vie Moderne: Paris 1880-1910” featured nearly 200 drawings and posters from avant-garde Post-Impressionist artists. The AMA’s exhibit was part of a global tour for these incredible pieces including stops in some of the world’s premiere museums such as the Gemeente Museum at The Hague in The Netherlands. Our $100,000 grant served as the exhibit’s lead gift and, with it, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation board was delighted to ensure arts continue to flourish in Arlington. Star of Texas Project and DREAM 4 Arlington, the American Dream City. We believe Arlington is a place where dreams are realized. With the help of the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, two new public art projects offer unique imagery which considers and explores the ways Arlington is alive with the American dream. Star of Texas Project: A collaborative effort led by the Arlington Museum of Art and including Downtown Arlington Management Corporation, the City of Arlington and Women Inspiring Philanthropy, our $50,000 grant partly underwrote the costs associated with bringing the Star of Texas Project to life. The project commissioned 20 five-foot tall fiberglass stars from local artist Chris Cunningham. From there, dozens of local artists painted their interpretation of the American Dream on the stars – making each an individual piece of art and a larger-than-life expression of the promise of dreams.
