recreational opportunities such as cross country skiing,
snowshoeing and walking. The Bruce Mines area is known
for its rich farmland where sand hill cranes can often
be seen in the fields. The town hosts various activities
throughout the year including the Community Day Parade,
the Fall Fair and the Cruisin’ Car Show.

straddling the Trans Canada Highway, Bruce Mines
is a true four-season destination. Founded in 1846 as
Canada’s first copper mine, our scenic town is rich in
history. Tour the Simpson Mine Shaft, hike the Mine Trail
and explore more than 7,000 artifacts in the museum. A
full service marina provides access to the renowned North
Channel which offers world class boating.
Thessalon

ow the hub of a large recreation area to the north,
Thessalon was and is a lumber town set on a beautiful
river mouth on upper Lake Huron. Thessalon is located
80 km (48 mi) east of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and the
International Bridge. Thessalon makes an excellent
base for outdoor adventures like canoeing, fishing and
hunting. In the winter there are over 8 km of groomed trails
provided by volunteers and welcoming landowners, the
Thessalon Ski Trail is a picturesque adventure. Art lovers
will find local artisans ready to share their works and ideas
with you. We have an excellent shopping district, good
restaurants and fine accommodations.
