IB Chemistry HL might be a nice choice for you because…
Chemistry as an IB course gives you the chance to
ensure your depth of knowledge through experimental
sciences by activating your research, self-management
and thinking skills. IB’s chemistry introduces you a very
wide range of practical works that involves the use of
matematics with calculations. Studying chemistry makes
you more aware of the scientific methods that the
science world uses and it adds to your manipulative and
design skills in the light of your interest and curiosity.
It helps you to be more critical and analytical thinkers
while you are being busy with the challanges brought
by the practicals of scientific theories. Theories and
experiments help the students to construct a cause
and effect relation between the chemistry world and
practical world to understand the themes of chemistry
better.
IB High Level Chemistry course helps you with other
disciplines of IB, too, as it constitute a basis for other
science courses, like Biology. Now it is recommended to
give IB Biology to the students who are taking Chemistry.
According to my experiences, I can say that without
Chemistry, it is really a hard job to comprehend Biology
in some specific topics such as understanding the
molecular bonds and structures of molecules that our
bodies are made up of.
I chose Chemistry as one of my IB High Level courses
due to its curriculum that would accompany me with
the national Undergraduate Placement Exam topics.
The course prepares you a strong chemistry background
with details that serve to teach the logical sense behind
chemistry.
Most of the university departments like medicine and
engineering require a basic Chemistry knowledge as a
criteria and if you are studying IB Chemistry HL course,
you already fit in that criteria with a well-supported
chemistry knowledge.
