section he stated that he expects a Noble Prize from
our students in the future. 12th grade students stated
that they become happy about getting aqcuinted with
Prof. Yavaş and learning about the latest developments
in particle accelerating technology in Turkey. In the
second section the Union of Chambers and Commodity
Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) special undersecretary
and TOBB-CERN Industry Contact Office Chief Dr.
Hakan Kızıltoprak made a presentation about the
procedural ways of participating an auction at CERN.
Finally, Saim Özakalın, the chairmen of the council,
stated that one of the Accelerator Technology Centers
which will support high-tech manufacturing, research
and development activities should be established in
Erzurum.
The members of the council of ETSO, heads of
non-governmental organizations, businessmen,
professors from Atatürk University and Erzurum
Technical University and students from Bilkent
Erzurum Laboratory School attended the beriefing.
The briefing was composed of two sections. In the
first section,Prof. Dr. Ömer Yavaş who is the head of
Turkish Accelerator and Radiation Laboratory (TARLA)
made a presentation about the particle accelerator
technologies, its scientific, medicinal and industrial
usage ways and future expected developments and
needs. His presentation was truly an inspring and
stimulating one for our 12 grade students. Due to
their clear interest and questions the interaction
between Prof. Yavaş and our students was remarkable
during the presentation such that at the end of the
