America’s Night Out Against Crime
October 2015
National Night Out is a cohesive effort to promote involvement in crime prevention
activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a
message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and
fighting back.
Below are a few tips on how your neighborhood can fight back against crime:
Hold regular meetings to help residents get to know each other.
Start a block parent program to help children cope with emergencies while walking
to and from school or playing in the area.
Work with your local police department. The agency is a good source to gather
important information and facts about local crime trends in your neighborhood.
Often, residents’ opinions are not supported by facts, and accurate information
can reduce the fear of crime.
Ask people who are frequently home to be “window watchers,” that look out for
children and report any unusual activities in the neighborhood.
Report suspicious activity to your local police department.
Please join the Southlake Police and Fire Departments at the 2015 National Night
Out and Fire Prevention Celebration on:
