Ga. native was a 2014 U. S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association( UTFCCCA) All-Region honoree. She also collected second team All-Conference honors at the 2013 Peach Belt Conference meet. Mitchell was a standout student-athlete at Armstrong State University from 2009-14, competing in women’ s soccer and women’ s basketball during her career. She graduated with her bachelor’ s degree in criminal justice in 2014 and returned to campus this Fall to pursue a graduate degree in professional communication and leadership from Armstrong State. She currently serves as a graduate assistant in the athletic department.
Peach Belt Hosts Seventh Annual Women In Athletics Seminar
Augusta- The Peach Belt Conference hosted its seventh annual Women In Athletics Seminar Thursday, September 24 at the Belair Conference Center in Augusta.
Over 125 female student-athletes from PBC schools, including institutions beyond the conference attended the event. The PBC seminar is the longest-running women’ s professional development conference event in all of NCAA Division II.
“ I am thrilled that so many female student-athletes took this opportunity to learn from and network with some of the most accomplished female professionals in the industry,” said PBC commissioner David Brunk.“ The panelists we had represented a wide array of career paths available upon graduation. The ultimate goal was to inspire these young ladies as they pursue a potential career in athletics, which our panelists and keynote speaker did wonderfully. I would like to thank everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to participate in such a meaningful and impactful event.”
Jennifer Fraser, Directer of Division I Governance for the NCAA national office, delivered the seminar’ s keynote address. She touched on points on about chasing after your goals and what it means to overcome fears.
Fraser’ s address followed a panel of women from all different levels of collegiate athletics. This year’ s panelists included: Dawn Buth- Associate Director of Communication and Education for the NCAA Sport Science Institute Hilary Cox- Assistant Director of Compliance Services at the Universityof South Carolina Brea Hartley- Graduate Assistant Softball Coach at the Univeristy of North Carolina at Pembroke Vanessa Hill- Assistant Director of Marketing and Promotions at Campbell University Amber Lynn Pennycuff- Sports Reporter for WACH Fox 57 in Columbia, S. C. Jeri Porter- Head Women’ s Basketball Coach at Francis Marion University Carla Roberts- Women’ s Basketball Official Caryn Savitz- Athletics Communication Coordinator and Senior Woman Administrator at Flagler College
