Middle 6-8
Frick Middle School is a community school made up of
academically and socially minded successful students who
thrive. A Frick education encourages students to be creative
and confident. We produce independent thinkers and
life-long learners that live up to high expectations set by
teachers and family. Our API scores since 2005 have grown
significantly and we show no signs of stopping. We love to
recognize the accomplishments of our Kings and Queens and
have rallies at the end of each marking period to celebrate
their hard work. Students on honor roll, the most dedicated,
the most improved, and students with perfect attendance
are all celebrated and recognized in front of their peers,
teachers, and school staff. Our school-based health center
is operated in partnership with the East Bay Agency for
Children, Native American Health and the Alameda County
Department of Behavioral Health, and provides physical and
behavioral health services to the Frick community along
with other health-related services, all free of charge. We
offer these services in both English and Spanish. Our Spark
apprenticeship program matches middle school students
with a mentor in their dream jobs. These experiences help to
keep our students college and career focused, and engaged
in school. Our afterschool program gives students multiple
enrichment activities like sports, art, youth development and
media arts in addition to academic support. Above all else,
Principal Jerome Gourdine views each student as his own and
truly creates a home away from home where every student
can feel safe.
