Oakland Unified School District TK-8 / Middle School Coliseum College Prep Academy 1390 66th Avenue, 94621 639-3201 www.coliseumcollegeprep.org Site Code 232 | Options Code 56 6-12 Coliseum College Prep Academy (CCPA) opened in the fall of 2006 as a new small school on the Havenscourt campus in East Oakland. Our primary commitment is to serve the students of the surrounding community by providing a high-quality secondary school option in the Coliseum neighborhood. We strive to create a college going culture beginning in middle school that acknowledges the magnitude of the task at hand. We need a full seven years with our students to get them college ready. One-hundred percent of our student body would be the first in their family to graduate from a four-year college and 96 percent of our students receive free and reduced lunch, so we couple our academic program with parent programs that aim to engage, support, and educate. CCPA’s academic program is split into three divisions, each with a distinct purpose and a corresponding structure to support that purpose. Our Division 1 (sixth and seventh grades) has a goal of rapid academic growth. Over 85 percent of our students enter sixth grade below grade level in English and Math, as measured by the California Standards Test. To achieve our goal of every student on grade level by eighth grade, our Division 1 students loop with the same teachers for two years to build meaningful relationships and also participate in a mandatory extended day until 5pm for intense academic support. Our Division 2 (eighth through tenth grades) is our traditional secondary school structure, with an emphasis on college preparation. Starting with Algebra in eighth grade, our Division 2 students aim to complete the majority of their California State University/University of California A - G requirements during this period. Extended day academic supportis also offered for our Division 2 students until 4:15 pm. Our English and Math departments use the ACT readiness Springboard curriculum to ensure rigorous instruction. Students are also offered intensive intervention in math and language during the school day. Our Division 3 students (eleventh and twelfth grades) participate in our ‘Make the Road’ program on a modified half-day schedule. They have the option of taking CSU/UC transferable courses at junior college or participating in a professional internship. The goal of Division 3 is to successfully transition our students into college and/or career by initiating that process in a safe and supportive environment. 70 Enrollment Options Guide 2015-16 School Uniform Description Division 1 students (grades six and seven) wear green polo shirts and khaki bottoms.
