Remember, the road to successful enrollment is four steps:
1. FIND
Find out about OUSD schools that might be a good match for your family and decide which ones you would
like to apply to attend. This manual provides you with detailed information about each of our schools under
the “Schools at a Glance” sections and more detailed information in the “School Summary” section. Finding
out about a school can also include visiting the school for a tour or other event and talking to parents in the
school community about their students’ experiences at the school. It is important to research and find your
preferred schools prior to the application period starting in December.
2. APPLY
Submit your completed application during the open enrollment period: December 8, 2014 to January 16,
2015. All students who are either changing schools or entering the district for the first time and wish to take
part in the Options Open Enrollment process must submit an application during this window. Applications
must be submitted along with all required documentation, at any OUSD school or the Student Assignment
Center.
3. CONFIRM
Confirmation is vital! Once you receive your school assignment in mid-March, you must contact the
new school and confirm that your student will accept the placement and attend that school. You have
approximately one month after you receive your Student Placement Letter to confirm that you will accept
the placement. By contacting your newly assigned school your child is guaranteed a seat for the fall
semester. Those parents who do not confirm their intent to register at their assigned school will lose their
assignment and have to register at the Student Assignment Center prior to the start of the first day of
school.
4. ENROLL
A student is enrolled in a school once the family registers their child with the school and the child begins
attending the new schoo
