The mission of Oakland International High School (OIHS) is
to provide recently arrived immigrant students a quality
high school education that focuses on English language
acquisition and college preparation. Students at OIHS speak
over two dozen languages and come from over 32 countries.
We provide tutoring, CAHSEE prep, math intervention,
biking, soccer, gardening, and photography classes as part
of our afterschool program. OIHS also offers parents free
English and computer classes four days a week.
Multimedia Academy at Oakland International
High School (10-12)
Oakland International High School is a small, public high
school for English Language Learners who are recently
arrived immigrants. All of our students have immigrated to
the United States within the last four years. Our Multimedia
Academy is designed to provide basic and advanced
technology and media skills to students in grades 10-12,
who may have had little to no prior experience with formal
education or new media. All of our teachers use multimedia
to help students learn English while teaching them the skills
they need to pursue further education or employment
opportunities in the fields of media, arts, and technology.

Laney College, Media Enterprise Alliance.
