Edith Munson Award
The first NCAA All-American
in Nebraska women’s golf history,
Joanne Brooks was one of the
best golfers ever to compete for
the Huskers.
When Brooks completed
her eligibility after the 1993
season, she held nearly every
NU individual school record. She
earned All-Big Eight Conference
and academic All-Big Eight
Joanne Brooks
honors three times. Brooks won
1989-92
the Edith Munson Award given to
Honorable-mention,
the nation’s top student-athlete,
1992
was named an WGCA Scholastic
All-American in 1990, 1991 and 1992, and was named to
Nebraska’s 25 Women of Distinction List in April 2000.
A native of Tauranga, New Zealand, Brooks also served as
president of Nebraska’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
