"Superman"

Richard Hannon, trainer of Toronado who won the Group One Queen Ann Stakes, said: "He is every bit as good as any horse we have ever had. Just look at him, the stature of the horse. I was quoted saying that he looks like Superman. He does – almost superhuman – a hell of a horse. He is the real deal."

"Improves with age"

Sole Power won the Group One King’s Stand Stakes. His trainer Eddie Lynam, said: "He is the first horse in 80 years to win back-to-back King's Stand Stakes […] he has been there, done that and worn the t-shirt – he is a very good horse." Sabena Power, the winning owner, said: "I am so thrilled for the horse. He is getting better isn't he? He's not like me – he improves with age!"

"He just sleaps, eats and races"

Owned and bred by Khalid Abdullah, trained by John Gosden and ridden by James Doyle, Kingman gained revenge on his QIPCO 2,000 Guineas conqueror Night Of Thunder in the St James's Palace Stakes. Gosden said: "They made him favourite for the Guineas, which was a bit hard on the horse, but fortunately he doesn't read the newspapers. He just sleeps and eats and races.

"She is a great walker"

The Clive Brittain-trained Rizeena won the Group One Coronation Stakes. Brittain, who at 80 is the oldest trainer to have saddled a Royal Ascot winner in modern times, said: "I wasn't worried about the race. They could have walked – she is a great walker – and she still would have won. They could have trotted – she is a great trotter – and she still would have won. But they galloped and she still won. All she had to do was turn up and show what she could do."
