1. Age? 32
2. Nicknames? Bretho
3. Do you remember your very first race meeting? Where was it and how did you go? It was at the Gold Coast Kart Track. I can’t remember how I went. So it mustn't have been too good.
4. How do you like to prepare for a race meeting? Nothing special really. Balancing work and racing is quite difficult. I try and do a day in the kart before the meeting to adjust my driving.
5. What is your favourite circuit, and why? I’d have to say Raleigh. I guess there are some tracks that you just enjoy racing on, suit your driving style and generally go well at. I suppose not racing there anymore increases the appeal also.
6. Who do you enjoy racing against the most? Guys like Jason Pringle, Wallie and Kel Treseder. In a way it comes down to a bit of a respect thing. You can race close and hard with these guys knowing that you’ll both make finish the race. There are many more guys like this. But these guys are the first that come to mind.
7. Does your helmet design have a special significance? No real significance. Antman and I have just been building on my original design each time we do a new lid.
8. Best moment in your career so far? Representing Australia at the 2010 Rotax Max Challenge World Finals in Italy.
9. Worst moment in your career so far? Probably rolling over my team mate at the time, Damian Ward at Cooloola track. It’s never good to crash with your team mate. However, due to the race being red flagged and not restarted. The results were given on the lap before the red flagged which I was leading. So I still won the race.
10. Future racing goals? I'd like to win a national title and go to the Worlds again. I’ve been close a couple of times but have yet to make that final step. Even have a go at some form of circuit racing. I always like to challenge myself.
11. What do you like to do away from the track? I don’t live too far from the beach so I do a bit of surfing when I can. I don’t mind playing some golf, although it can be very frustrating at times.
12. What was the last movie you saw at the cinemas? Red 2
13. What music/bands would we find on your iPod? A bit of everything really. Old school Snoop Dogg always gets a bit of air time.
14. Biggest fear? I hate snakes.
15. Worst habit? Putting things off and leaving them till the last minute.
16. Holiday destination you most want to visit? I’ve been fortunate enough to visit some wicked places. They tend to be surfing destinations like Maldives, Fiji and Bali. Tahiti is probably the next on the list.
17. If you won the lotto, what is the first thing you would do with the money? I’d pay off my mortgages. Then build a house with an underground carpark. Can never have enough room for all the boys toys.
18. 3 things you couldn’t live without? TV, my couch
19. Greatest advice you have been given? It’s not really advice I’ve been given but something Muhammad Ali said, “Don’t count the days, make the days count".
20. People you would like to thank? Because I started karting so late (23), I gave up a a lot of experience to guys that have been racing since they were 7 or 8. So what I have achieved thus far is really down to the support and guidance that Dale
Verrall from Pacific Kartsport has provided and continues to provide. I’d also
like to thank Jon Targett from Jt Motorsport for his continued support and
more recently Steve Macken and the team at Birel Kartsport Australia.
